Today’s episode of Welcome to Magic School is a continuation of last week’s lesson on Runes for Protection Magic.

Runes for Protection Magic (We covered three last week—now for two more!)
Sowilo
sun, sunlight, success
the light that vanquishes the forces of darkness
quells fear, quells demons, darkness, and dis-ease
to ensure success, health, and a sunny disposition
Othala
inheritance, estate
ancestors, family, community
inherited gifts/blessings/curses, property, etc.
mark boundaries, claim ownership, call in protection from ancestors and community

What does it mean for light to vanquish darkness?
Is darkness inherently evil? (Hell no!)
On wanting to say the “right” thing…
Sowilo: the sun, sunlight, light which vanquishes the forces of darkness, clarity of the light of day, burns away the fog (including the fog of fear).
Othala: the sacred enclosure, the estate, inheritance. Home, family, ancestors, community, law, culture… and all the powers of the protection these forces carry.
